About
Alec Arritola was born on May 11, 1998, in Pembroke Pines, Florida, to exiled Cuban dissidents. He took up the clarinet at 10 and was a member of the South Florida Youth Symphony by 12. A saxophonist and National Hispanic Scholar, he gigged throughout Miami-Dade and Broward County, playing jazz, classical and Afro-Cuban music. He later began singing, and took his stage name from Edmond Dantès, the hero of The Count of Monte Cristo.
After Divino, he co-wrote “Save Your Love” (performed by Luke James and the STAR cast) with Memphis Bleek and Ruff Ryders producer Teflon. While working out of Bleek’s Roc Nation studio, he sang bilingual reference vocals for Shaggy and Maluma. He signed with Sony Music Entertainment in June 2018 and released his debut EP meristem under Sony in 2021.
