## Biography
### Early life and training
Alec Arritola was born on May 11, 1998, in Pembroke Pines, Florida, in Broward County, to exiled Cuban dissidents. He took up the clarinet at 10 and was a member of the South Florida Youth Symphony by 12. The orchestra performed and rehearsed with trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, an early inspiration.
A saxophonist and clarinetist, he gigged throughout Miami-Dade and Broward County, playing jazz, classical and Afro-Cuban music in the same venues as his influences Herbie Hancock, Paquito D’Rivera and Arturo Sandoval, and on the same stages as Wycliffe Gordon and Tito Puente Jr. Around 16 he began singing with local artists.
He attended American Heritage School in Plantation and Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School. He is a National Hispanic Scholar and National Merit Scholar; in 2016 the Archdiocese of Miami listed him among McCarthy High students recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program and the National Hispanic Recognition Program.

### Divino and early collaborations (2015–2016)
He took his stage name from Edmond Dantès, the hero of Alexandre Dumas’ The Count of Monte Cristo, and began releasing music anonymously on SoundCloud in 2015.
